Reece Shepard was a Level 7 gymnast at Empire Gymnastics in Bedford, Texas. She passed away unexpectantly on Dec. 29, 2021, which has left her family, friends, coaches, and teammates heartbroken.
Reece, affectionately called Reecey-P and Reece-Pieces, was passionate about gymnastics, her family and friends, and her love for Christ. Anyone who knew Reece, knew her sweet nature, contagious laugh, and loving heart. She was a dedicated and talented gymnast with incredible determination and grit, pushing herself to always be her best self. She was always up for a wall-sit or push-up contest and would easily win with a grin on her face without breaking a sweat.
The 2022 Alamo Classic wants to honor Reece and her loving memory by raising donations for one of her passions – Her church’s outreach programs and mission trips, specifically the church’s upcoming Haiti Mission Trip for high school students. All donations will be given in honor of Reece to the Gospel City Church and the Haiti Mission Trip.
We have also created the Reece Shepard “Grit” Award for the 2022 Alamo Classic. Judges will be awarding this unique accommodation to any routine that shows grit and determination. The 2022 Alamo Classic will be contributing $20 to the memorial fund for each Reece’s Grit award. We are honored to show her family how the gymnastics community comes together in our most challenging times. #DOIT4REECE
